This underground district steam distribution project involved the replacement of a major portion of the steam system between Vault H30 and Vault H50. The scope included the installation of approximately 600 linear feet of new steam and condensate mains, as well as two cast-in-place concrete steam vaults. Steam and condensate service connections were also replaced for Alumni Hall, West Hall, and East Hall.

West Hall—originally known as the “Western Edifice”—is the oldest building on the Colgate University campus. It has continuously served as student housing since its construction and remains in use today.

The project also included site improvements, the construction of new sidewalks, and coordination with the utility infrastructure work to minimize disruption and to ensure a cohesive restoration of the affected areas.
