
This plumbing and utility project at Colgate University’s Frank Dining Hall involved the replacement of the underground grease interceptor and deteriorated underslab grease waste piping within the facility. Due to the highly corrosive nature of grease-laden waste, the existing concrete grease interceptor, underslab piping, and cast-iron sanitary sewer lateral were found to be in poor condition.
The project included the installation of a new high-density polyethylene (HDPE) grease separator and interceptor, providing increased durability and corrosion resistance. Portions of the existing underslab piping were rehabilitated using cured-in-place piping (CIPP), while the deteriorated sanitary sewer lateral was replaced using a pipe bursting method, allowing the new HDPE piping to be installed with minimal excavation.
